We arrived Monday late afternoon Dec 29 and spent our first night in Belize City.
|
The Seiba tree is the national tree of Guatemala. We flew to Guatemala to visit the Tikal ruins Tuesday morning Dec 30. |
Tikal tourists love to feed the couti-mundis, but we shouldn't because they are allegic to much of our food. This one expects C to feed him. |

Looking up from where we had our picture taken earlier. |
After our guided tours, we returned to the ruins by ourselves to visit this residential site. It was close to sunset and C was a bit nervous. She felt very isolated and alone after a day of being surrounded by thousands of tourists & a guide who told her of the bandits who preyed on tourists! So gullible... |
Bill wanted to explore the residential passageway we found. But Carolyn was not thrilled with the idea. Bats... bandits... surprises... |
|
Bill thinks this is a 2nd picture of the same doorway. But Carolyn thinks it was another doorway, probably to the same passageway from the other end. |
On our second day in Tikal (Wed Dec 31) we climbed Temple IV to watch the sun break out of the fog & rise over Temple I. |
